Hi all! I am so excited to announce my partnership with Five Points Chiropractic & Wellness on a new program called “Finally Fit.”
But first, let me tell you about how we met. I started seeing Dr. Casey back in 2006 with some back issues caused by sitting on my butt all day long and leading a not-so-healthy lifestyle. I had seen a chiropractor on and off since I was 12 years old. I knew he was different when after a few visits he sat me down and said “So what’s going on?” I replied with a simple, “Oh you know, same old, same old.” However, he didn’t mean it as just a casual nice way to say hi. He was literally asking me what was going on in my life that was causing me stress. He could tell that my body was reflecting the stress that I was feeling on a day-to-day basis. It was then that I knew he was different. He wasn’t just some chiropractor that was going to adjust my back and push me out for the next patient. He truly wanted to help people get better. He would rather see people come in monthly for maintenance than to have them coming in every week and raking in the money from them.
Fast forward to 2012… I was in the best shape of my life, but still having some sciatic nerve pain. He turned that right around. We started talking about health and fitness and throwing the idea around of sharing our knowledge with other people. We casually talked about it through my pregnancy. Once I was back in action, we knew we really needed to take some time and get this program rolling.
Obesity is an epidemic in America. Even if we could only reach and make a difference in the lives of 10 people, we knew this was something we wanted to do. So for the last few months, we have been working on this program playing around with how we wanted to present everything. There is so much info out there. We didn’t want to overwhelm people and scare them away. We want to teach people where to start, how to continue living healthy and how to succeed in reaching their goals.
So what exactly is this program? It takes place over the course of 6 weeks. One class per week starting Tuesday, April 15 at 6:00pm. The lesson will go from 6:00-7:00. During this lesson, we are going to focus on teaching you about clean eating and proper portion sizes along with explaining the most common health issues and how to prevent those issues. Dr. Casey will be doing an assessment with you so you can start to track your weight, measurements, body fat percentage and any existing health issues that need to be addressed. We believe it is important to know where you are starting to understand where you need to go. We will help you set realistic goals and guide you in reaching those goals.
Because exercise is also an incredibly important part of all of this, we will also be offering a workout following each class. The workout will be run by yours truly. It will be a 30 minute workout and anyone of any fitness level will be able to complete this workout. I will be showing modifiers to all of the moves and I will be able to help you get the most of every workout regardless of your limitations.
