Hey all! If you follow me on Facebook, I have been honest about my struggles to get back on track. Ever since my beach vacation at the beginning of September, I’ve been having a hard time getting back to my normal diet and exercise routine. Thankfully, my hubby agreed to do the 3 Day Refresh with me. It is the perfect way to get rid of the bloat, cravings and extra weight I have collected so I can confidently get back on track. I’m using this as a little diary of sorts and hopefully it will help you decide if the 3 Day Refresh is for you!
Day 1
I started out the first day ready to tackle this challenge. I had my 8 ounces of water to start the day. I did have a little cream in my coffee, but significantly less than normal. Breakfast was Shakeology with 1/2 a banana. So far so good. Then, 25 ounces of water and the hunger started to creep in. I had a cup of green tea without any sweetener. I did the fiber sweep next. It tastes like instant lemon flavored tea with a gritty consistency. Not exactly delicious, but not unbearable or gag-worthy. Just make sure you get all the chunks dissolved. I had a nice sized chunk sneak in at the very end and had to chug some water to get the taste out of my mouth. It was about 11:30 am at this point. Lunch was a protein shake, grapes and some roasted cauliflower with olive oil. I actually had the grapes first and then went down to workout. Light workouts are recommended during the Refresh. I did Body Beast Bulk Back. Probably a bit heavier than suggested, but I figured for the first day I would go ahead with my normal workout. After the workout, I had my veggies and protein shake. I felt OK after eating. Not too hungry, but definitely not full. Around 3, I had my afternoon snack – some baby carrots and hummus. Six baby carrots to be exact. I was actually surprised that I felt satiated after that small snack. And then, it got really tough. I was starting to get really hangry by the time I got home around 5:45. We ate dinner (a protein shake and roasted veggies with olive oil – an altered version of the coconut veggies in the book because Joey doesn’t like coconut). I also had some raw cucumbers with red wine vinegar and olive oil because there wasn’t enough cauliflower leftover for a full serving for me. I was ok… For about an hour. Then, I got hungry again. And I cheated and had a spoonful of peanut butter. All in all, it was an alright day. A little hungry, but I suppose that is to be expected when you are doing a cleanse and decreasing the calories you consume in a day fairly drastically.
Day 2
It was a rough night. I slept great until about 4am when Jordan started fussing. I brought him to bed with us hoping he would go back to sleep. He usually sleeps pretty well in our bed. Nope. Starting the day off tired and hungry is never a good combo, but I’m down 1.2 pounds! I had two cups of coffee with a tiny bit of cream. Breakfast was Shakeology with 1/2 of a banana again. So yummy! I ended up doing the fiber sweep around 9:30. I was feeling hungry and wanted to get it out of the way for the day. Jordan and I went for a half mile walk and I felt kind of weak, but I had an apple when I got home and immediately felt better. About 30 minutes later, I ate my veggies for lunch and then another 30 minutes after that I had my protein shake. I wanted to spread it out a bit today so I wouldn’t get that really hungry feeling again mid-afternoon. I had some cucumbers with hummus for my afternoon snack and held up alright until dinner. I spread out my foods during dinner as well to help stay satiated until bedtime. I had a cup of tea with some roasted broccoli and olive oil. Then about 45 minutes later had my protein shake. I actually felt pretty good after that!
Day 3
Down another .4 pounds! I felt really good this morning when I first woke up – except for the fact that I woke up at 5:00 and couldn’t get back to sleep. I laid there for about 20 minutes before just getting up and going downstairs with my coffee to do some 21 Day Fix yoga. Thirty minutes and I was done! My legs were feeling tight, so that felt awesome and was light enough that I didn’t expend too much energy. Gotta keep that in check with the low calories I’m consuming! Shakeology with 1/2 banana for breakfast. Aside from being tired, I felt good after breakfast! I was in the office today and packed all my goodies. I got to work and had my apple around 9:30. Then around 11:30 had my peppers and hummus. I already had 48 ounces of water in for the day, so I was doing good. Until I realized I forgot to take the fiber sweep. Ahh!! So I chugged that down and had another cup of coffee after. I had my protein shake around 3, which by the way tastes a bit like cake batter. I found that spreading my food out through the day has really been helpful for me. I made the lemony green beans from the book for dinner and ate them around 5. They are really good. I remembered them from the first time I did the Refresh and can’t believe I haven’t incorporated them into my weekly meals as a nice side dish. Even my picky hubby commented how good they were a few times while he was eating them. I had my protein shake around 7 and then a cup of green tea after to cap off the day.
Day 4 – final weigh in!
Well, I finally got a bit of sleep. Even though I woke up earlier than I would have liked, I slept like a rock. I truly feel like I have reset my body and am so ready to fuel it with all of the right things. I am sure the weight I lost was mostly water weight. But the fact of the matter is, I was bloated and needed to lose it! My clothes are fitting better and I am down a total of 2.4 pounds in 3 days.
I don’t really care much about the number on the scale personally. I have hovered around 140 since March and have dropped a pants size since then. The number on the scale doesn’t reflect that though. What I do base progress on is inches lost and with this Refresh, I lost 1 inch from my waist and 1/2 inch from my hips. So I would say it was a success!!
As for Joey, he forgot to take his measurements (how does the husband of an online health and fitness coach forget to take his measurements?!?!), but said he noticed on the last day that his jeans were much looser than normal. I would say so considering he started at 185 and the scale said 178.8 this morning!! What?! 6.2 pounds?? Craziness!!
Well there you have it folks. The 3 Day Refresh is complete and we are feeling much cleaner and happier! If you think this is something you would like to try, please complete the contact form below and I will reach out to you. We can talk about the best option for you!!
