What is the Beachbody Ultimate Reset?

After I posted my last blog post, I had a ton of people reaching out offering their support and love. But not only that, they were asking about the Ultimate Reset. What the hell is it? As I mentioned in the other blog, it is a 21-day program that gently helps restore the body to its “factory settings” while improving energy and nutrient retention. The Ultimate Reset isn’t a crash diet or a processed-food meal replacement. It’s an integrated, whole-body reset solution—a step-by-step program that lets you have real food along with the specially formulated supplements that are included.

Yeah, yeah. But what IS IT?

It is a cleanse of sorts. But not the kind of cleanse where you starve or drink only lemon water with honey and cayenne pepper for 2 weeks. Those suck and I would NEVER do them. Ever. This plan replaces the unhealthy foods you normally eat with clean, healthy foods and recipes. You will cut out the junk and start fueling your body appropriately so it can function at its highest level. By the end of it, you will have more energy and feel better, experience better digestion and a more positive mood, enable your body to function more efficiently, lose weight, and improve your overall health. Sound good?

There are 3 phases to the plan. The first is the reclaim phase where you will work on getting your body ready for the changes about to happen. During this phase you will slowly start to cut out meat and dairy eating only small portions of these. Obviously, this helps you to be successful in weeks 2 & 3. It’s hard to do that cold turkey!

The second is the release phase. During this phase, you’ll start to release the unwanted compounds that have been holding your system back and start the detoxification process. You will start to notice some big changes during this phase because your body is actually going to start functioning the way it should. You’ll also notice quite an increase in energy during this phase!

The third and final phase of this plan is the restore phase where you will work to restore your digestive system, along with other internal processes, to maximum efficiency, putting nutrients, enzymes, and pre- and probiotics back into your body. During this week, you will notice that you have really made some changes. You will be eating a Vegan diet as well by this point.

I have done this once before. It was shortly after I had Jordan and had stopped breastfeeding. It was a struggle for sure. It wasn’t easy mostly because of all the meal prep. This was before they had created the Reset in a Crunch plan, which gives you 3 options for each meal that you can choose from that require little meal prep. This time around, I planned to do the reset in a crunch options for breakfast and lunch and try as many of the dinner options from the normal plan that I could.

There are supplements that you will take with each phase. The supplements are meant to work together to gradually help gently shift your body’s internal settings. They are NOT a harsh, laxative-based, colon-focused cleanse, which fails to help provide a whole-body reset. You won’t be running to the bathroom every hour, unless of course your current water intake level isn’t very high. So let’s just say that you may be going number 1 quite often, but your bum is safe.

I am currently 2 days in and feeling really good about this program so far. I am pairing it with one of Beachbody’s new programs available on Beachbody On Demand, the 3 Week Yoga Retreat. I am the furthest thing from a yogi as there can be and actually consider it one of the workouts I “hate.” However, strenuous exercise is not recommended while doing the Reset, so I don’t have much of a choice. If I want to keep moving (and I do!), then I need to do this. Both of these programs are out of my comfort zone. The Ultimate Reset is because I am a true believer in moderation when it comes to food. I live by the 80/20 rule. I like my tacos and beer. However, I was not in a good place with my body and knew I needed to make some big changes before I could go back to that life. Yoga is just not something I enjoy. I truly hope that changes by the end of these 3 weeks. And I didn’t have to give up tacos!

I’m actually really looking forward to both the mental and physical changes that are bound to happen with these programs. I’ll check back in weekly and give some updates and let you know that I am still alive. I’d love to hear from you if you have ever done the Reset! What is your favorite part about it? How did you do post-Reset?

  1. I’m just reading the book now all the way through. Since I’ve never done this before I’m trying to understand the process. I won’t end up doing this until sometime after my surgery next week
