Hi. My name is Nicole. And I am addicted to tacos.
Phew. That felt amazing to get off my chest. I mean, it’s actually no surprise to you if you follow me on social media. I have Taco Tuesday just about every week. And when I don’t, it’s because I don’t currently know what day it is. Which surprisingly happens more often than I care to admit, but I digress…
I am totally content using pre-packaged taco seasoning, but I wanted to really take it up a notch and start making my own. After playing around with a few recipes I came across on Pinterest, I have finally adjusted this mix to the perfect blend. The whole family loves it and THAT my friends is a very hard task to accomplish.
Here is my only tip for you – don’t mistakenly add curry instead of cumin because you are trying to multitask causing you to have to throw out a quadruple recipe of this stuff. You know… a *friend* told me that…
Homemade Taco Seasoning
1/2 T chili powder
¼ t garlic powder
¼ t onion powder
¼ t dried oregano
½ t paprika
1½ t ground cumin
1 t salt
½ t black pepper
Mix together and store in an air tight container. Use one whole recipe + 1/2 cup water for 1 pound of meat. Or guesstimate if making a bulk batch, which is what I usually do. Then, crush the tacos and enjoy with a margarita!
